Second meeting of the Project Committee and fourth
meeting of the Extended Planning Team of the KfW
project Support for National Park Galicica were held
in Belvedere Hotel located in the settlement of St.
Stefan, Ohrid.
Three year project Support for National Park
Galicica (NPG/ KfW) started its activities in
February
2008.
Main goal of the project is to support the
transformation of the National Park from sustainable
forest management towards approach of integrated
management with nature protection. Main aspects of
the project are development of Management Plan,
Business Plan, Plan for the Forests and Plan for
Tourism Development, as well as implementation of
the same. In order to gain better understanding of
the goals of the protection of the natural values,
the project included basic research of the flora and
fauna, as well as the potential for tourism
development of NPG.
This project is part of the trans-boundary program
that aims to establish the Biosphere reserve around
the lake Prespa. In such manner, the project will
give contribution in the future management of the
Park and will provide real tools for long term
integral management of the natural resources of the
Park.
Both meetings; of the Project Committee and of the
Extended Planning Team, working on the preparation
of the Management Plan, were held at the same time,
due to the overlapping and supplementing agendas of
both meetings.
Til Dieterih (GFA) informed the present of the
project progress by elaborating on the second half
year progress report. Andon Bojadzi (PINPG) spoke
about the coordination of the planning processes for
NPG, i. e. Spatial plan for NPG, Management Plan and
re-establishment of the Park. In the afternoon
session of the meeting, the representatives of the
Project Committee and Extended Planning Team were
introduced with the possible future way of financing
of the NPG, as well with the vision for the future
of the Park.

natural values of the Park, as well as about the
results of the cross-cutting. Towards the end, the
