It is possible to achieve optimal realization of the park functions, including the protection of the natural values, by classifying and defining the use and purpose of separate sections of the Park, i.e. zoning the National Park.

Zoning is conducted on the bases of the analyses of the current situation, with evaluation of the values and the importance of the natural environment.  Utmost importance is given to the set aims specified by the Law for Natural Park Protection.  Along the process, two basic specifications are taken into account:

-    The mountain range of Galicica extorts profound influence to the whole ecosystem of the Ohrid – Prespa region; and

-    The most significant values and occurrences are spread randomly throughout the whole National Park.

Within the GNP borders the following zones are defined:

Strictly protectet
